As in past years, we will continue the tradition of the Upward Celebration Ceremony and Dinner. This years event will be held Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Springfield First Church of the Nazarene (as usual) and will begin with a Mostaccioli with Meatball dinner served at 6:00 p.m. The meal will be followed by the Celebration Ceremony held in the church sanctuary. Come help us celebrate the achievements our kids have made through Upward!
To help us serve our guests better, please R.S.V.P. with the number of attendants from your group by March 22, 2011. As always, Moms, Dads, Grandmothers, Grandfathers, Aunt, and Uncles and important friends are always welcome.

It’s not too late to get your friends and family registered for Upward Basketball. We’ve scheduled an additional evaluation day for Saturday, December 18, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a volunteers meeting following at 11:00 a.m. If your interested in volunteering for any one of a number of volunteer possibilities, then this is the meeting for you. Get it on your calendar today!
Evaluation Day – December 18, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Another great day at evaluations! we registered and evaluated 25 kids! Thanks to all who came out to be evaluated and to all the helpers. Registration will continue until December 17, and we’re looking at scheduling one more evaluation day in December. Make sure you let your kids know they can still invite friends and family (1st through 6th grades) to participate in Upward.

The first day of evaluations is complete. We had a pretty good turnout and are looking forward to next week’s evaluations. Remember, we’ll be at the Family Life Center (gym) on Saturday, November 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. If your child has not been evaluated yet, make sure you come.
Springfield First Church of the Nazarene Upward Facebook page is active! If your a “Facebooker” and would like to be a “friend” of Upward, just log into your Facebook account and search for us by email address (springfieldfirstupward@yahoo.com) or “Upward Nazarene” and request to be a friend. This Facebook page was created exclusively for friends of Upward at SFCotN, and will be limited to participant’s Family, Guardians or caregivers and to volunteers (i.e. coaches, referees, concession workers, etc.). We will post information and updates periodically to the page along with photos from different events. At no time will a child’s name appear or be “tagged” unless permission is given. If you do not wish your child’s photo displayed, please contact us, and we adhere to your request.

Boys and girls in grades 1st through 6th are invited to learn the basics, including sportsmanship, about basketball. For any questions, email us at springfieldfirstupward@yahoo.com .
Evaluations will be held in the church gym on November 6 and 13, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Deadline to register is December 17th.
Group practices will begin January 4th and 6th, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday. Games will begin on Saturday, January 29th for 8 weeks. There will be an awards and banquet night on March 31st.
Registration cost per child is $60.
